MiLuv
A quiet app for two people who miss each other. If something isn’t working, here’s how to sort it out.
Email tania.dev.ph@gmail.com — it’s a one-person project, so replies usually take a day or two. Please include your device model and iOS version.
You both install MiLuv and create an account. One of you opens Connect your partner and shares the link code; the other enters it. Once you’re linked, the widget starts showing the distance between you.
Yes — you both need the MiLuv app and an account of your own. MiLuv links exactly two people.
No. MiLuv connects one pair at a time. To link with someone else, unlink your current partner first (Settings › Partner › Unlink partner).
Yes. Distance is distance — borders and time zones don’t matter. The widget shows the straight-line distance between you wherever you both are.
Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, tap + in the top corner, search for MiLuv, and add the small or medium size.
Touch and hold the widget, then tap Remove Widget.
Open iOS Settings › MiLuv › Location. If it’s set to “Ask Next Time Or When I Share” — that’s what “Allow Once” becomes — MiLuv only has access until you close it, so it asks again every time. Set it to While Using the App, or Always for background updates, and it’ll stop asking.
Open MiLuv once to refresh it. Then check that location access is set to Always in iOS Settings › MiLuv › Location, and that both you and your partner have a connection. The widget updates in the background, but only if the app is allowed to.
The widget and the proximity notifications need to keep working when the app is closed, and that requires background location. MiLuv still works with While Using — it just only updates while the app is open.
In the background, MiLuv updates once each time you’ve moved about 200 m from where it last checked — it doesn’t track you continuously, so it’s light on battery. For an immediate refresh, open the app or tap Settings › Partner › Update my location. It is not a live tracker.
It’s approximate — usually within about 100 m. That’s plenty for “how far apart are we,” and it’s deliberately not precise enough to pinpoint a place.
The distance simply stops updating. Your partner keeps seeing the last known distance and the time it was measured, and it catches up once you’re back online.
No. Your partner only ever sees the distance between you and a timestamp — never your coordinates, never a map, never an address. Only your latest position is stored, and it’s overwritten on every update. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Make sure notifications are enabled in iOS Settings › MiLuv. They only fire as the distance between you shrinks past about 1 km, then 500 m, then when you’ve arrived — and both partners’ locations need to be updating for the distance to change.
Each notification fires once, as the distance drops through its threshold. If you were already inside that range, or the distance never decreased past it, there’s nothing to announce. Each one re-arms after you move apart again.
MiLuv’s notifications follow whatever you’ve set for it in iOS Settings › Notifications and in your Focus settings, the same as any other app.
On the Home tab, below the distance, pick one of the messages — I miss you!, I love you!, or I can’t wait to see you! — and tap Nudge It. Your partner gets a notification like “Sam nudged you” with the message you picked.
You can send one nudge a minute. The timer next to “Nudge” counts down, and changes to Ready when you can send the next one.
Nudges arrive as notifications, so your partner needs notifications turned on for MiLuv in iOS Settings › Notifications. If they have none set up, MiLuv tells you when you send it.
On the Home screen, tap Add your date on the Since day one card and pick the day you got together. Either of you can set it, and you both see the same date. Tap the pencil to change it or remove it. There’s also a Since day one widget: touch and hold the Home Screen, tap +, search for MiLuv and swipe to it.
On the Home screen, tap the + next to your heart and choose Take Photo or Choose from Library. Move and zoom the photo inside the circle, then tap Use photo. It replaces your heart on the Home screen, your widget and share cards — and your partner sees it too. To go back to the heart, tap + again and choose Remove Photo.
When you’re together, the Home screen card shows Add picture together. Take or choose a photo of the two of you and crop it — it replaces the heart for both of you, on your widgets too. Tap the photo to change or remove it.
Close and reopen MiLuv — photos refresh when the app opens. The widget picks it up after you’ve opened the app once.
Tap the share button on the Home screen card. Choose which name the card shows — your nickname for your partner or their own name — then tap Share to post it or save it to Photos. The picture is made on your phone; MiLuv doesn’t upload it.
Not at the moment — nudges use a set of ready-made messages.
Settings › Profile › Edit Profile. Your name is what your partner sees. Nickname for your partner is private to you — set it to change what you see, or leave it blank to show their own name.
You’re not linked with anyone yet. Open MiLuv and connect with your partner, and the widget will start showing the distance.
Settings › Partner › Unlink partner. You can link again with a new code afterwards.
Your link ends and the widget goes back to the “not connected” state. Your own account and data are untouched, and you can link with someone else whenever you like.
On Supabase, our hosted database provider. MiLuv keeps your email, your single most-recent location (overwritten every update — no history), your pairing, and the time you last sent a nudge (never the message itself). Nothing is sold or shared with advertisers. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
At the bottom of Settings, under Danger Zone, tap Delete account, then type DELETE to confirm. This permanently removes your account, your location, and your pairing — there’s no undo.
Yes. MiLuv is free, and MiLuv Pro is an optional upgrade: ₱99 a month, or ₱199 once for lifetime (prices can differ by country). Pro adds the shared Calendar with reminders, the “Until we meet” countdown and widget, and your partner’s local time and weather.
No — one purchase covers both of you while you’re linked. If you unlink, the person who bought it keeps Pro.
Settings › MiLuv Pro › Restore Purchases brings Pro back on a new phone. To cancel the monthly plan, tap Manage subscription there, or go to iOS Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
Each plan reminds both of you a day before and an hour before. When one of you adds, changes or removes a plan, the other gets a notification. Turn on We’ll be together on a plan to count down to it on the Home screen and in the Until we meet widget.
No. The weather is looked up for an area of about 11 km around you, and your partner only sees the temperature and conditions — never a location.
